 The sombrero calañés, or Gorro Calanes (traditional 'Alta Escuela' type hat) is a small round, velvet or moulded felt hat with upturned/rolled brim, worn over a cotton ‘kerchief’. The kerchief is tied in a ‘pirate’ style with the knot at the back of the head. The hat is worn slightly tilting forwards. The ‘catite’ is similar and worn with a kerchief, used mostly in displays.
